When President Barack Obama presents the National Medal of Science to Stephen J. Benkovic, Warren M. Washington and eight other prominent scientists today (Nov. 17), the public can view it via live webcast at http://www.whitehouse.gov/live online. The webcast will begin at 5:20 p.m. Penn State Live also will have a story and photos from the event in the evening.
Benkovic, Evan Pugh professor of chemistry and Holder of the Eberly family chair in chemistry at Penn State, and Washington, Penn State alumnus and senior scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., are among the 10 scientists who will receive the award, which is the nation's highest honor for lifetime achievement in scientific research.
