Cao, Narayanan elected IEEE fellows

Two faculty members in computer science and engineering in Penn State's College of Engineering were elected fellows of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

The two engineers are Guohong Cao, professor of computer science and engineering, and Vijay Narayanan, professor of computer science and engineering and electrical engineering.

Cao was cited for contributions to algorithm and protocol design for mobile ad hoc and sensor networks. He received his doctorate from Ohio State in 1999. Cao's research interests include wireless networks and mobile computing.

Narayanan was cited for his contributions to power-aware systems and estimation tools. He received his degree from the University of South Florida in 1998. Narayanan's research interests include power-aware and reliable systems, embedded systems, reconfigurable architectures, nano-architectures and computer architecture.
