Penn State Press hires new journals manager

The Penn State University Press has appointed Diana Pesek as its new journals manager, effective Jan. 3, 2011. Pesek brings to the position more than 20 years of publishing experience in electronic and print production and the acquisition and management of editorial content. She graduated cum laude from Case Western Reserve University and served as senior publisher at Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (Philadelphia) and director of journals production at W.B. Saunders Company (Philadelphia).

Pesek is an enthusiastic advocate for new technology and has employed many electronic strategies throughout her career. She successfully launched the first online only journal at Lippincott Williams & Wilkins and has developed numerous online and electronic editorial workflow systems, providing state-of-the-art services for authors and journal societies. Pesek will look to expand the press's journal program, in both acquisitions and the digital environment.

The University Press reports to the Dean of University Libraries and Scholarly Communications in a collaboration that puts both units in a position to partner with faculty in the utilization of emerging information technologies to provide alternatives for the dissemination of research and scholarship.
