Teaching with Simulation: An instructor course

Penn State Hershey Simulation Center is offering a simulation instructor course May 2 to 6. The five-day course will focus on teaching instructors to more effectively use simulation as an adjunct to traditional methodologies through sessions on debriefing techniques, educational theory and other tools using didactic and experiential learning, hands-on practice and reflective feedback. Each participant will have the opportunity to assume the various roles in the simulation processes.

Upon completion of the course, participants are awarded CME and PSNA credits.

The cost of the course for Medical Center and College of Medicine applicants is $450. The fee is $1,850 for outside attendees. Payment is due upon acceptance into the course, and includes course fees and materials. The fee includes lunch and two snacks each day.

Class space is limited to 15 participants to ensure adequate hands-on opportunities. It is helpful but not imperative to have some simulation experience. All disciplines are welcome. Applications will be reviewed to gather a multidisciplinary group.

Additional information and a link to the enrollment form can be obtained from the Simulation Center website at http://www.pennstatehershey.org/ce online. For more information, call Sally Rudy at 717-531-5813.
