Career Days, THON affect campus parking Tuesday to Sunday

University Park, Pa. -- Two big events this week, Career Days, Feb. 15-16 at the Bryce Jordan Center and THON, Feb. 18 -20, also at the Bryce Jordan Center, may affect commuter permit holders but spaces will still be plentiful.

During Career Days (Tuesday and Wednesday), all parking rules and regulations remain in effect. Parking for students attending Career Days will be in the Commuter lots Jordan East, Stadium West, and Porter North. If one lot is full, one of the other two parking areas must be used. Parking along the travel lanes, fields, or other areas not designated for parking is strictly prohibited. A valid student parking permit is required, and must be displayed. Students from University Park are encouraged to walk or use the transit system to get to the Jordan Center.

Students from non-University Park locations or students without a valid commuter parking permit have two options for parking:
1. Purchase a one-day commuter permit ($4) and park in the commuter lots. Permits available at the Penn State Centre County Visitor Center.
2. Park in the East Deck and pay the hourly fee ($1).

Career Services has posted a map on their website showing directions to the East Deck and other pertinent information.

Employee parking:

All three commuter parking areas will be available. It is anticipated that there will be ample parking to accommodate all Faculty/Staff commuter (CR) permit holders the commuter lots Stadium West, Jordan East, and Porter North.

With the increase in traffic to the commuter areas, commuters are advised to allow some extra time to get to their destination.

Dauer Drive (located south of the Bryce Jordan Center) will be closed from Porter Road to University Drive.

Vehicles parked in lot Orange L East will be allowed to exit via the north lot entrance/exit only, and will then be required to proceed north to Curtin Road or east to Porter Road. No traffic will be allowed to exit lot 44 via Dauer Drive (Located south of the Bryce Jordan Center). All access to Lot 44 will be from Curtin Road or Porter Road only.

The Red and Green Link buses will be rerouted from 4 to 5 p.m. to avoid the interior of Lot 44:

The Green Link will travel eastbound to University Drive and turn left on University Drive, right on Park Avenue, right on Porter Road, and right on Curtin and then continue westbound on the normal route. The eastbound stop on Curtin Road in front of the Bryce Jordan Center and the Porter Road stop will not be used from 4 to 5 p.m.

The Red link, traveling eastbound to Innovation Park, will stay on Curtin Road to Porter Road, turning left on Porter and resuming the normal route to Innovation Park. The Red Link westbound will follow the normal routing to Porter Road where it will turn left on Curtin Road and resume normal routing into campus. The Porter Road stop east of lot 44 will not be used from 4 to 5 p.m.  Curtin Road will be closed to all traffic except CATA buses from University Drive to Porter Road, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

With all of the pedestrian and vehicle movement associated with the dance Marathon, motorists are asked to use caution when traveling in the vicinity of the Bryce Jordan Center from Friday, Feb. 18 through Sunday, Feb. 20.
