The event will include a keynote address by John Glaser, CEO of Siemens Health Services. Workshop sessions will focus on topics including health care logistics, lean health care, optimizing patient flow, clinical decision making, remote disease management, medical home and chronic care, health care data visualization, environmentally sustainable practices and curriculum development for health care delivery.

The CIHDS is a join initiative of Penn State's colleges of engineering, medicine, information sciences and technology, and health and human development and the Office of the Vice President for Research. Its mission is to promote a holistic approach to understanding and solving problems of access and quality in health care.

The center was recently awarded a five-year, $1 million National Science Foundation Industry/University Collaborative Research Center grant, which will establish the Center for Health Organization Transformation within the CIHDS.
