University Park, Pa. — A day long rain turned into a downpour at halftime, prompting an early end to Penn State's Blue-White Game, with the Blue posting 10-0 win.
The highlight event during Blue-White Weekend presented by AAA, Matt McGloin (Scranton) threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Moseby-Felder (Fort Washington, Md.) for the game's lone touchdown. Wide receiver Evan Lewis (Gettysburg) handled the placekicking duties and connected on a 20-yard field goal to begin the scoring early in the second quarter.
The game was called after two plays in the third quarter. Nineteen Nittany Lions were not available for the Blue-White Game due to injuries and Coach Joe Paterno did not want to risk the safety of the players or fans as the intensity of the rain increased.

Four Nittany Lions were recognized for their efforts during halftime of the game. Rising junior defensive tackle Jordan Hill (Steelton) was presented the Jim O'Hora Award. Rising junior wide receiver Devon Smith earned the Red Worrell Award. The Nittany Lion coaching staff singled out Hill and Smith as the players who have best demonstrated exemplary conduct, loyalty, interest, attitude and improvement during spring practice.
Redshirt junior tackle Mike Farrell (Pittsburgh) and redshirt sophomore center Ty Howle (Wake Forest, N.C.) were recognized as co-recipients of the Frank Patrick Total Commitment Memorial Award.
McGloin was 5 of 10 for 109 yards. Moseby-Felder made two catches for a game-high 31 yards. Rising sophomore Silas Redd (Norwalk, Conn.) gained 24 yards on nine carries and senior Stephfon Green (Bronx, N.Y.) gained 13 yards on four attempts for the Blue.
Kevin Newsome (Portsmouth, Va.) was 3 of 7 for 22 yards for the White squad. In his first action since November 2009 due to a serious knee injury, running back Brandon Beachum (Struthers, Ohio) gained 24 yards on six carries and Curtis Dukes (Evans Mills, N.Y.) gained 15 yards on just three attempts for the White team.
Rising sophomore linebacker Glenn Carson (Manahawkin, N.J.) made a game-high five tackles to lead the Blue. Redshirt freshman linebacker Mike Hull (Canonsburg) made four stops and forced a fumble and redshirt freshman defensive end Kyle Baublitz (York) recorded two sacks for minus-17 yards among his four hits.
Rising sophomore linebacker Khairi Fortt (Stamford, Conn.) led the White squad with five tackles and forced a fumble. Redshirt junior linebacker Michael Mauti (Mandeville, La.) made three stops.
Since the start of the 2005 season, Penn State has earned a 58-19 (75.3) record, tied with Oregon for No. 12 in the nation. Over the past six years the Nittany Lions have won two Big Ten Championships, won four bowl games and played in five New Year's or Bowl Championship Series (BCS) games, the nation's third-highest total.
The Nittany Lions return 15 starters for the 2011 season, (7 offense, 7 defense, 1 specialist), as well as 17 players that have starting experience. Penn State opens its 125th season Sept. 3 vs. Indiana State in Beaver Stadium and Alabama visits Happy Valley on Sept. 10 for the first time since 1989.
Season tickets are available for the 2011 season. The Nittany Lions will face seven teams that played in bowl games last year, including four at home. Among the teams coming to Beaver Stadium this fall are: Alabama (Sept. 10), Iowa (Oct. 8), Purdue (Oct. 15-Homecoming), Illinois (Oct. 29) and Nebraska (Nov. 12).
