Chemical engineering seminar to feature Stanford engineer

Eric Shaqfeh, chemical engineering professor at Stanford University, will speak at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 21, in 108 Wartik Laboratory as part of the Chemical Engineering Seminar Series. Shaqfeh will present "The Microfluidics of Particle/Vesicle Mixtures in the Microvasculature." The seminar is free and open to the public.

Shaqfeh's research focuses on different areas associated with transport in complex fluids including the occurrence of purely elastic instabilities in polymer flows; the micro-dynamics of polymer molecules, including DNA, in nonequilibrium transport; the flow behavior of fiber suspensions; the general microfluidic flow behavior of complex fluids; and the stability of compressible boundary layer flow.
