Sports Scoreboard: Beaver softball team finished fifth in USCAA

The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions softball team finished fifth in the 2011 USCAA National Softball Championship held over the weekend in Firestone Stadium, Akron, Ohio.

On Friday, May 6, Beaver defeated Spalding University, 5-4, but lost twice on Saturday, May 7 to Rochester College, 11-5, and Judson College, 4-2. On Sunday, May 8, Beaver defeated Penn State Mont Alto 9-1.

The Beaver Lady Lions finished the season with a 23-13 overall record (14-2 PSUAC), went undefeated in the PSUAC regular season, and earned the PSUAC regular season title. Beaver also had impressive, NCAA Division III nonconference wins over Penn State Altoona, Penn State Berks, Franciscan University, Spalding University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Thiel College.
