Penn State York librarian wins University award

David B. Van de Streek, head librarian at the Lee R. Glatfelter Library at Penn State York, has been named the winner of the 2011 University Libraries Award.  Van de Streek received his award during a ceremony in May.  Van de Streek’s award included a citation, a cash stipend, and a Nittany Lion statue.

The University Libraries Award is given in recognition of the achievement of performance of any person holding an academic, staff, or technical service appointment, except deans or division heads, in the University Libraries who meets one or more of four criteria. 

The award criteria are:  professional contribution that has a significant influence on the operations of the Penn State University Libraries, significant professional contribution that earns the respect of the University community of the Penn State University Libraries, significant contribution to the profession that reflects achievement in librarianship at Penn State, or outstanding contribution to Penn State University Libraries as shown by continuous leadership and innovation.

 Van de Streek lives in New Freedom, Pa., and has worked at Penn State York since 1980.
