Campus offers summer youth writing, discovery, and swimming camps

During the summer months a variety of youth campus will be held on the campus of Penn State Lehigh Valley and at the Shafer Elementary School in Nazareth, Pa.

The Lehigh Valley Writing Project at Penn State Lehigh Valley is offering two-week, half-day youth camps July 18-29 and Aug. 1-12. Camps are available in a variety of topics geared toward a particular grade level from kindergarten through grade 12 and are offered in the morning from 9 a.m.to noon or in the afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m.

Discovery camps are offered in ecology, robotics, and filmmaking and are geared toward seventh through 10th graders. Writing camps are offered in nine different topics and include options for all grade levels. Two swimming camps are offered in conjunction with the Swim-In Zone for two age groups -- kindergarten through fourth grade and fifth to eighth grade. A full-day and extended camp option is also available.

Also, new this year is a series of three writing camps to be held from 9 a.m.-noon July 18-28, at Shafer Elementary School in Nazareth, Pa. This series includes Author Adventures, second and third grades; Creative Composers, fourth and fifth grades; and Digital Discoveries, sixth and seventh grades.
