Berks campus' Freyberger Gallery to present '9/11 Memorial Exhibition'

In recognition of the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Penn State Berks Freyberger Gallery will present the "9/11 Memorial Exhibition." The exhibition will open at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, with a memorial event followed a reception. This event and reception are free and open to the public.

The "9/11 Memorial Exhibition" will be displayed in two parts: "Part 1: Crisis and Reaction, September 11 - October 20, 2001;" and "Part 2: Response and Healing, November 6 December 15, 2001."

A national call-to-artists brought responses and submissions from more than 80 individuals, from Massachusetts to California. More than 40 artists' works, including paintings, sculptures, videos and installations, have been selected for the exhibition.

The memorial event at Penn State Berks will feature a video produced by New York artist Scott Peehl, a short documentary about 9/11 and an afterward; music; and guest speakers discussing political, cultural and social ramifications of 9/11 followed by a meet-and-greet with the artists whose works are shown.
