Presenters sought for this year's TEDxPSU event

Following a successful inaugural run last year, this year's TEDxPSU event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Nov. 13, on Penn State's University Park campus. The event, being held in the spirit of the internationally-acclaimed nonprofit, Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED), is meant to bring together individuals from the Penn State community and the world to share ideas worth spreading through live talks and pre-recorded videos. Potential presenters who have the desire to broadcast their unique messages are encouraged to complete the speaker application, available at http://www.tedxpsu.com/ online, by the Aug. 12 deadline. A nomination form also is available online.

The first round of interviews with potential presenters will begin during the week of Aug. 15. Speakers will be chosen based on their areas of expertise and their ability to trigger conversation and inspire action.

"In 2010, the entire executive team was blown away by the response to TEDxPSU. Event videos from 2010 have recently hit more than 850,000 views online and we are excited to begin the planning process for TEDxPSU in 2011," said Zach Zimbler, TEDxPSU curator. "Our hope is to create a more sustainable community that fosters innovation and honest discussions."
