International Day of Peace events to be held at Pasquerilla Center

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- In honor of International Day of Peace on Wednesday, Sept. 21, Interfaith Initiative Centre County and the Center for Ethics and Religious Affairs at Penn State's University Park campus will host a day of events highlighted by guest speaker Zainab al-Suwaij. An Iraqi-American and co-founder of American Islamic Congress, al-Suwaij is an activist and speaker for civil rights, women’s empowerment, nonviolence and interfaith tolerance in the United States and around the world. 

All events are free and open to the public and will be held at the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center on the University Park campus. The day's events include:

2:30-4 p.m. - Speaking on "Interfaith Dialogue," Worship Hall;

5:45-6:45 - Reception (catered by Pita Cabana of State College), Memorial Lounge;

7-8:30 p.m. - Interfaith Panel, "Reaching In, Reaching Out: Visions of a Just & Peaceful Society," with Zainab al-Suwaij, Rabbi David Ostrich of Congregation Brit Shalom and Rev. David Witkovsky, chaplain of Juniata College, Memorial Lounge.
 
Pasquerilla Spiritual Center is located at the intersection of North Allen and Curtin Roads on the University Park campus. Visitor parking is available nearby at Nittany Parking Deck on Fischer Road, near the Nittany Lion Inn.
