Palmer Museum to present 'The Art of Music' performances

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Palmer Museum of Art will feature a series of monthly performances by faculty members in Penn State’s School of Music and by the local community. Each free concert in the Art of Music series begins at 12:10 p.m. in the Pincus Gallery of Contemporary Art.

-- Timothy Hurtz, associate professor of oboe, will perform Of Art and Oboe on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

-- Velvet Brown, professor of tuba and euphonium, will perform "Tubular Contrasts: Contemporary Works for the Versatile Tuba" on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

-- Robert Nairn, professor of double bass, and Heidi von Bernewitz, viola, will perform "Bright Works for Dark Strings: New Duos for Viola and Double Bass" on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

-- Lisa Bontrager, distinguished professor of music, and Caroline Harris, graduate student in the School of Music, will perform "Horns Aplenty: Music for Multiple Horns" on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
