Transportation survey asks employees, students how they get to campus

Penn State employees and students use regional roadways, bike trails, sidewalks and bus systems to commute to work and class every day. In order to better understand commuting preferences and what might be done to enhance environmentally friendly alternatives, the University is inviting the campus community to participate in a transportation survey.

Due to some traffic issues, participants initially had problems accessing the survey. Those issues have been fixed and the site is fully accessible.

Survey responses will provide the Intermodal Transportation Committee with critical information regarding present and projected commuting patterns. It will help to frame long-term plans for future transportation needs of the University community with an emphasis on “greener” transportation options. Members of the Intermodal Transportation Committee include representatives from Hospitality Services, Intercollegiate Athletics, the Office of Physical Plant, Transportation Services and University Police. Members from the Borough of State College, the Centre Regional Planning Commission and CATA also were involved.

The survey takes a few minutes to complete and can be found at this link: https://transportation.survey.psu.edu/travel. Anyone who completes the survey will be eligible to win one of two iPod Touch devices. The deadline for completion of this survey is Dec. 12.
