Five Big Ten fall championships air on BTN in November

CHICAGO -- BTN will once again provide coverage of five Big Ten fall championships, including live broadcasts during the 2011 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament, Big Ten Men's and Women's Soccer Tournaments and delayed coverage of the Big Ten Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships.

Big Ten Network is televising more than 100 Penn State events this year, in addition to coverage of 15 Big Ten Championships and institutional programming. The Nittany Lion football team has made three appearances on BTN this season, including conference games with Purdue and Northwestern. The No. 6 Penn State women's volleyball team visits No. 15 Minnesota on Friday at 9:00 p.m. on BTN.

BTN is available to more than 80 million homes through agreements with more than 300 cable, satellite and telco providers in all 50 states and Canada. BTN, though, is not carried in Pennsylvania by Adams Cable and Blue Ridge Cable. The network also is not available to Armstrong Cable customers in western Pennsylvania and suburban Youngstown, Ohio. A combined total of more than 35,000 Penn State alumni live in communities served by the three cable providers, in addition to thousands more fans and current Penn State students.

BTN will televise live the semifinals and final of the Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament this weekend at Penn State. Live coverage of the semifinal round will begin at 10 a.m. ET with the second game to follow at approximately noon ET on Friday, Nov. 4. The championship game will air live on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. ET.

The network will be in Evanston, Ill., for the Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament, which has returned after a two-year hiatus. Live coverage of the semifinal round will begin on Friday, Nov. 4, at 2:15 p.m. ET with the second game to follow at approximately 4:55 p.m. ET. The championship game will air live at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 6. The 2011 Big Ten Champion, Penn State is ranked No. 11. The Nittany Lions won the last Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament in 2008.

BTN also will televise live the semifinals and final of the Big Ten Men's Soccer Tournament, hosted by the University of Michigan. Semifinal coverage will air live on Friday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m. ET and approximately 3:30 p.m. ET. The final will be carried live at noon ET on Sunday, Nov. 13.

The network will offer delayed coverage of the Big Ten Cross Country Championships at noon ET on Friday, Nov. 11. Penn State senior Caitlin Lane won the Big Ten title and was named the conference's Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
