Faculty Senate announces agenda for Dec. 6 meeting

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. --The University Faculty Senate will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, in 112 Kern Graduate Building. The Senate agenda approved by Senate Council was modified to provide additional time for President Rodney Erickson to make comments and respond to questions.

Following Erickson’s comments, a forensic session will be held to address implementation of the resolution adopted by the Senate on Nov. 18. The resolution called for a review of all administrative and Senate policies dealing with reporting procedures and requested an independent special committee whose chair and majority of members have no affiliation with the University. The resolution further stated the Senate’s intent to cooperate with the special committee, endorsement of the five-point statement issued by President Rodney Erickson, and committed the Senate to work with the President to restore public trust in the University.

The Senate will vote on two legislative reports: Revisions to Senate Policy 37-70, Academic Classification of Students by Semester, and Revisions to Senate Policy 67-00, Athletic Competition.

Members of the University community are invited to attend this meeting. Any member of the University community not a member of the Senate may request the privilege of the floor on any item of business already before the Senate. Such a request must be made to the Chair, through the Executive Director, at least four calendar days before the meeting at which the individual wishes to speak.

The Senate Agenda will be posted on the Senate website one week prior to each Senate meeting. The Senate Agenda is available at http://www.senate.psu.edu/agenda/index.html. Senate meeting minutes (The Senate Record) are also available at http://www.senate.psu.edu/record/index.html approximately three weeks following the Senate meeting.
