Electrical engineering's Mathews named IEEE fellow

University Park, Pa. — John Mathews, professor of electrical engineering, was elected to fellow status with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He was recognized for his contributions to radar observations of meteors.

Mathew's expertise lies in radar remote sensing, digital signal processing, ionospheric physical and chemical processes and radar codes.

The IEEE is a professional association focused on advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. With more than 375,000 members in 160 countries, it is the largest technical professional association in the world.
