Professor of physics elected fellow of American Physical Society

Robert Forrey, professor of physics at Penn State Berks, has been elected a fellow of the American Physical Society (APS). Election to APS fellowship is based on outstanding contributions to the field and is limited to no more than 1/2 of 1 percent of the society's membership.

Forrey was elected for "contributions to the understanding of internal energy transfer in atomic and molecular systems" and for "meaningful involvement of undergraduate students in research." His research focuses on applying quantum mechanics to problems in ultracold physics and astrophysics. He was nominated for fellowship by the Division of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics.
