Celebrate medical and graduate education at EdVenture 2012

Eric Mazur, of Harvard University, will be the Woodward Lecturer at EdVenture 2012, set for Thursday, April 12. This annual event celebrates educational accomplishments at Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine and includes the lecture, a workshop, poster presentations and award ceremony. CME credit is available.

Mazur is the developer of Peer Instruction, a method for teaching large lecture classes interactively, and the author of the book "Peer Instruction: A User’s Manual." The title of his lecture, which will begin at noon, is “Memorization or Understanding: Are we teaching the right thing?” Mazur will also present a workshop at 1:30 p.m. titled “Engaging students one-on-one, all at once.” Lunch will be provided at 11:30 a.m.

EdVenture will continue at 5:30 p.m. in the University Fitness Center with an academic poster session and reception, followed by the presentation of this year’s Distinguished Educator Awards.
