UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Professor of Education Alison Carr-Chellman will lead off the spring season of Research Unplugged on March 15 with a presentation on "B is for Boys: How American Classroom Culture is Failing Male Students."
A former third-grade teacher, Carr-Chellman is now an instructional designer and award-winning author who studies how to re-engage boys in learning. She is a professor in Penn State’s College of Education and heads up the department of Learning and Performance Systems.
The Research Unplugged series begins its eighth year on a new day and time, and at a new location – Thursdays, 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., in Schlow Centre Region Library’s Downsbrough Community Room, downtown State College.
Schlow Library joins Penn State’s Office of the Vice President for Research and Office of University Relations as a partner in the Research Unplugged series.
The events are free and open to all, with complimentary light refreshments.
