Penn State York and Penn State,The Lancaster Center are offering a free informational conference, Duty to Degree: Informational Conference for Veterans, on Saturday, April 14, in York, and Saturday, April 21, in Lancaster. The program is designed for veterans interested in learning more about their military benefits and the educational opportunities available.
Topics to be covered at each conference include benefits, financial aid, academic choice, career information and admission options. Attendees also can meet with veterans who have successfully managed the challenges of becoming successful students and the graduates who have gone on to fulfilling careers.
The conference at Penn State York, from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, includes information about opportunities for veterans at Penn State and Penn State York. Registration is in the Community Room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center.
The conference at Penn State, The Lancaster Center, from 8:30 a.m. to noon on April 21, includes information about opportunities for veterans at Penn State, Penn State York, and Penn State, The Lancaster Center as well as a variety of other colleges and universities including Albright College, Central Penn College, Consolidated School of Business, Eastern Mennonite University, Eastern University, Elizabethtown College, HACC Lancaster, and Penn State York/Lancaster, and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. The program will take place in the multi-purpose room at the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road Lancaster, Pa. Penn State, The Lancaster Center is located in the Farm and Home Center.
“The Duty to Degree: Informational Conference for Veterans is designed to provide veterans with information about their military benefits, financial aid, academic choices, counseling resources, and admissions options,” said Sharon Christ, director of Enrollment Management and Strategic Recruitment and Retention Initiatives and one of the planners of the conferences.
Veterans who attend will learn about the opportunities available, meet with veterans who have successfully managed the challenges of becoming successful students, and the graduates who have gone on to fulfilling careers.
