Nittany Lions begin spring football practices

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Nittany Lion football team opened spring practices on March 26 at the outdoor fields near Holuba Hall on the University Park campus. Coach Bill O'Brien and his staff will begin their first year with the squad drilling and evaluating the team through 15 practice sessions culminating with the annual Blue-White Game on April 21 at Beaver Stadium. Admission and parking for the game is free.

"We're just really excited about getting out there and starting to play football, watch how these guys react in different situations on the football field, watch how the quarterbacks throw the ball in person, watch how the receivers catch the ball in person," O'Brien said at his press conference before the team's first practice,

The Nittany Lions will open the 2012 season on Sept. 1 when they host the Bobcats of Ohio University at Beaver Stadium.
