Penn State People: Mike Giedroc keeps Penn State's motors running

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Mike Giedroc is part of a team of expert technicians at Penn State's Service Garage, a division of the Office of Physical Plant on the University Park campus. The Penn State Service Garage staff works on more than 4,000 vehicles and stationary equipment a year. From auto-body repair to small- and large-engine maintenance, the technicians at the garage keep Penn State's motors tuned and running.

From an early age, Giedroc was fascinated with engines. What began with mini-bikes and lawnmowers in the driveway of his parents' State College home has now led to the expert repair and maintenance of sedans, buses and heavy trucks at Penn State. Giedroc enjoys the day-to-day challenges of his job. The more technical the problem, the more Mike is motivated to do the best work for the customer.

Along with servicing Penn State's vast fleet of motorized and electric vehicles, Giedroc and the staff also repair generators, compressors, personnel lifts and construction equipment. The team at the Service Garage bring a vast amount of knowledge and experience about a variety of engine types and heavy equipment to the workplace, and they strive to provide quality work, responsiveness and professionalism to their jobs and to the Penn State community.
