Chemical engineering alum honored with Alumni Achievement Award

Ronald D. Ondechek Jr., a 1999 chemical engineering alumnus, was one of 11 young Penn State alumni honored for outstanding professional accomplishments and presented with the Penn State Alumni Association's Alumni Achievement Award at a dinner ceremony March 30 at the Nittany Lion Inn on the University Park campus.

The alumni received the 2012 Alumni Achievement Award for reaching an extraordinary level of professional accomplishment by the age of 35 or younger.

Ondechek is an investment professional at Altira Group LLC, a venture capital firm that invests in breakthrough energy technology companies. Ondechek sources new investment opportunities and supports portfolio companies throughout the growth process. He performs organizational, technological, and market analysis and has overseen dozens of transactions valued at more than $300 million. Ondechek serves on the College of Engineering Industrial and Professional Advisory Council and frequently lectures in engineering classes.

Alumni Association Executive Director Roger L. Williams presented each Alumni Achievement Award recipient with a commemorative medal. The medal was commissioned by the Alumni Association and designed by internationally recognized artist Jeanne Stevens-Sollman, a 1972 graduate of Penn State's master of fine arts program.
