Faculty Senate announces agenda for April 24 meeting

The University Faculty Senate will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, in 112 Kern Graduate Building. The items below will be considered at the meeting.

-- The Senate will receive the results of the 2012-13 Senate elections for chair-elect, secretary, faculty advisory committee to the president, and three Senate committees including the University Promotion and Tenure Review Committee. The meeting also includes the seating of the new officers and comments by outgoing Chair Daniel Hagen and incoming Chair Larry Catá Backer.

-- The Senate will announce the four recipients of the John W. White Graduate Fellowship. The fellowships are awarded annually by the Senate to students who are graduating with highest distinction and who plan on enrolling in graduate study.

-- The Senate also will recognize senators who are not returning and have made significant contributions to the Senate during their time as senators.

-- The Senate will vote on revisions to Senate policies related to acquisition of credit, athletic competition and syllabus. A vote will also be taken on proposed revisions to the voluntary phased retirement program, policy HR29.

-- Presentations will be given on the status of University construction projects and on the plan for reinvigoration of Intellectual Property practices.

-- The Senate will receive a report from the Task Force on Internships and an update on the 2008 recommendations for documenting and disseminating outreach and engaged scholarship. Informational reports will also be given on the Professor of Practice rank; the World Campus program proposal and review process, and an update on Cooperative Extension.

Members of the University community are invited to attend this meeting. Any member of the University community not a member of the Senate may request the privilege of the floor on any item of business already before the Senate. Such a request must be made to the chair, through the executive director, at least four calendar days before the meeting at which the individual wishes to speak.
