Multicultural Resource Center honors students, faculty and staff

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Multicultural Resource Center held its 21st Annual Senior Student and Faculty/Staff Diversity Recognition Awards in Robb Hall at the Hintz Alumni Center on April 3. This annual recognition reception honors graduating seniors at University Park who have shown leadership, academic excellence, inspiration and resilience in the face of odds as well as faculty/staff who consistently promote multiculturalism and demonstrate concern for and sensitivity to the needs of multicultural students. The 2012 recipients are listed below:

Resilient Student Award:
Samantha Josaphat, B.A., arts and architecture

Leadership Award:
Dahiana Tejada, B.A., Latin American studies with minors in Latino studies and history

Volunteer Service Award:
Elicia Abella, B.S., biological anthropology

Academic Scholarship Award:
Amirah Heath, B.S., marketing; B.A., women’s studies ; B.A., media studies

Inspiring Student Leader Award:
Steven Brunson, B.S., management
Christopher King, B.A., crime, law and justice

Student Speaker:
Scott Pandya, B.S., biochemistry and molecular biology

The Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) provides professional counseling and educational services for undergraduate multicultural students. MRC’s staff is dedicated to helping students succeed and graduate from Penn State.
