This summer's 'Art on the Move' exhibits announced at University Park

Three artists will be featured this summer as part of the HUB-Robeson Galleries' art on the move program, at locations across Penn State's University Park campus.

-- The HUB-Robeson Galleries' Art on the Move Program will display the photography of Norris Lacy photographs in the Student Health Center at the University Health Services Building through Aug. 29. Lacy's pieces are heavily influenced by nature, and his photographs often feature landscapes, flowers and domestic animals. Scenes of summer will be the main focus of this exhibit. Fascinated by digital manipulation, Lacy embraces the vast possibilities available with modern photographic technology.

Lacy is a self-taught photographer who has been taking photos throughout his life. In recent years, he has exhibited his photographs, collages and digital paintings in two shows in the Centre County area.

-- Luke Brezovec, a sophomore majoring in integrative arts and biochemistry at Penn State, will have his photography on display through June 1 in the outer office of the vice president for Student Affairs in Old Main. During a recent research internship in Germany, he had the opportunity to photograph many unique places. He focused on photographing surreal architecture. The photos in the exhibit illustrate some of the area's grandiose and gilded architecture.

-- Ruth Kempner's artwork will be on display in Room 237 at the HUB-Robeson Center through Sept. 9. Kempner’s art captures a sense of exploration, discoveryand adventure. She experiments with a variety of mediums and has experience in working with oils, acrylics, watercolor, printmaking and pastels. Her intricately crafted pieces spark both whimsical peacefulness and creative intrigue through naturalistic subjects.

Kempner has a degree in fine arts from Cooper Union. She has also studied at NYU, Yale, Penn State, and the Rhode Island School of Design and has been teaching art for more than 30 years. Kempner has exhibited and received awards at many juried shows across the tri-state area, including the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts.

The HUB-Robeson Galleries’ Art on the Move program focuses primarily on the artwork of Penn State students and alumni. Art on the Move contributes to the HUB-Robeson Galleries’ commitment to the well-rounded education of Penn State students by exhibiting a diverse selection of art.
