Registration is now open for the College For Kids program at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. More than 100 courses are being offered this summer.
The schedule includes half-day classes in rocketry, robotics, 3D art, cake-making and CSI-style forensics. Thirty-six new courses have been added, including Bird Sleuth, which uses a curriculum designed by the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology, and Readers Theater, which dramatizes written works in a theater setting.
Several popular courses have returned, including Storm Chasing 101, with WJET meteorologist Tom Atkins, and Presque Isle Field Studies, a full-day program that involves hiking, biking, kayaking and fishing at Presque Isle State Park.
The classes are designed for children between the ages of 6 and 16.
The one-week sessions begin June 18 and continue through Aug. 3. Before- and after-class care is available, if needed.
