Sign up now for the Young People's Chorus of Erie Summer Choir Camp

The Young People’s Chorus of Erie will hold its fourth annual Summer Choir Camp on Sunday, Aug. 5, through Friday, Aug. 10. The camp is open to all youth ages 7 to 18 who have a passion for singing and the ability to match pitch.

Campers will receive instruction in music theory and sight-singing, and will be given private and group voice lessons. In addition to informal evening performances, campers will present a culminating public concert at 6 p.m. on Friday.

This residential camp will be held at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. Swimming, volleyball, kickball, crafts and team-building activities also will be part of the daily camp schedule. Additional evening activities for residential campers include a dance, talent show and campfire.

The Young People’s Chorus of Erie is northwestern Pennsylvania’s youth and children’s chorus organization. An outreach organization in residence in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Behrend, it is the first affiliate of the internationally acclaimed, multicultural Young People’s Chorus of New York City.

The camp cost is $325 and includes lodging in one of Penn State Behrend’s air-conditioned residence halls, all meals, activities, supplies, and a camp t-shirt. Payment plans are offered, and scholarships of up to 50 percent of the cost are available to campers who demonstrate financial need.

Camp registrations are due Friday, July 13. Campers need not be members of the YPC Erie to attend, but an audition will be required. For additional information or registration materials, phone the YPC Erie office at 814-898-6789, email info@ypcerie.org, or visit ypcerie.org/choircamp.
