UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Justin Long, a senior in aerospace engineering, was named the winner of the Anthony W. Wolk Senior Thesis Award.

Long was recognized for his thesis, "Investigation of Static Load Effects on Active Vibration Based Structural Health Monitoring."

As part of the Wolk Award, Long received a plaque, cash prize and booklet during the aerospace engineering department’s graduation luncheon on May 4.

The award is named in honor of Anthony E. "Tony" Wolk, a 1956 aeronautical engineering alumnus. During his 32-year career, Wolk worked for Martin Aircraft, Fairchild Aircraft, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The award was established by Wolk's widow, Ida Blackburn Wolk, and the couple's sons, Timothy and John.
