Penn State students guide artistic adventures

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Jen Girvin is a senior at Penn State majoring in art education. Introducing children to the variety of creative options the world of art can offer is something Jen finds both rewarding and enjoyable. As manager of the Centre for Arts and Crafts at Penn State art camps, Girvin oversees a variety of studio and field art experiences designed to let the campers pursue their creative dreams and find new adventures in the world of painting, crafting, drawing and ceramics.

Girvin is joined at the camp this summer by a number of fellow Penn State students majoring in art education. It's a great experience not only for the young artists attending but also for the student counselors who have devoted their skills and their studies to helping young people dive into the arts and expand their creative horizons.

The Center for Arts and Crafts at Penn State summer camp sessions will be offered through Aug. 3. Go to http://studentaffairs.psu.edu/hub/craftcenter/ or call 814-863-0611 for information.
