Grants available for rural small businesses to reduce energy costs

UNIONTOWN, Pa. — Time is running out for businesses in rural Pennsylvania to benefit from a special grant through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Rural Energy for America Program designed to help agricultural producers and rural small businesses reduce energy costs and consumption and help meet the nation’s critical energy needs through the Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP).

PennTAP is a federal, state, and Pennsylvania State University partnership providing technical assistance to businesses to improve their competitiveness in the areas of energy, environment, new product development, and advanced information technology.

Small businesses with 500 employees or less located in rural Pennsylvania (as defined by the USDA) may be eligible to participate for energy audits and renewable energy development assistance.

The program runs through September 2012. For more information, visit www.penntap.psu.edu or contact John Pletcher of PennTAP at 814-863-6393 or jep13@psu.edu.
