Shea named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Redshirt senior Colleen Shea (Baltimore, Md.) of the Penn State women's lacrosse team has been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Honor Roll, it was announced Wednesday (Aug. 22) evening.

A mathematics and security and risk analysis major, Shea was recently honored as an ALC Academic Honor Roll member for the fourth straight year. In 2012, the defender started all 19 games and tied for second on the team with 16 caused turnovers while ranking third with 27 ground balls. The Baltimore, Md., native also registered eight draw controls and one assist as the Nittany Lions finished the 2012 season at 12-7, earning the program's most wins since 2005 and advancing to the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time since 1999.

In all, the IWLCA honored 173 student-athletes from 56 different institutions. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically.
