Naccarelli earns alumni award for outstanding service and achievement

Internationally recognized for his clinical, teaching and research contributions, Gerald V. Naccarelli, Bernard Trabin Chair in Cardiology and associate clinical director of Penn State Hershey Heart and Vascular Institute, is the 2012 recipient of the Reverend Clarence E. Shaffrey, S.J. Award in recognition of his service and outstanding achievement in the medical profession from St. Joseph’s University.

This award is presented annually by the Saint Joseph’s University Medical Alumni Chapter to a distinguished member of the medical profession for service and outstanding achievement.

A Philadelphia native, Naccarelli received his bachelor of science in biology from Saint Joseph's in 1972 and his medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine in 1976. He was a fellow in cardiology and chief resident in medicine at the College of Medicine followed by a UPSHS postdoctoral fellow in cardiac electrophysiology at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
