Penn State Forum Speaker Series for 2012-13 continues Oct. 10

The 2012-13 Penn State Forum Speaker Series continues with a talk by Lisa Baird, chief marketing officer for the United States Olympic Committee, who will present, "Building Brands in a Socially Networked World: The story of Team USA at the 2012 London Olympic Games," on Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the Ballroom of the Nittany Lion Inn.

The Forum series is modeled after the National Press Club Speaker Series, which includes a presentation by an invited speaker, followed by audience questions. The luncheons are held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

-- Steve Manuel, Senior Lecturer at the Pennsylvania State University College of Communications, "Penn State University As Seen Through A Lens: A 30-Year Retrospective," on Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the President's Hall of the Penn Stater.

-- Joel Weintraub, Founder of Humor for the Health of It, "Stress ... It's Something to Laugh at," on Thursday, Dec. 6, in the Ballroom of the Nittany Lion Inn.

-- Kathy Mattea, Grammy-winning Singer, "My Coal Journey," on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in the President’s Hall of the Penn Stater.

-- Christopher Staley, Professor of Ceramic Arts at the Pennsylvania State University School of Visual Arts; 2012-13 Penn State Laureate, "ART & LIFE: Where they intersect," on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the President’s Hall of the Penn Stater.

-- Charles Figley, Paul Henry Kurzweg Distinguished Chair in Disaster Mental Health and Graduate School of Social Work Professor at Tulane University, "The Trauma Paradox: Lessons of Adversity and Transformation," on Tuesday, March 19, in the President’s Hall of the Penn Stater.

-- Chip Kidd, Graphic Designer for Alfred A. Knopf Publishing, "What the Stories Look Like," on Thursday, April 4, in the President's Hall of the Penn Stater.
 
-- Beverly McIver, Suntrust Endowed Chair Professor of Art at North Carolina Central University, "Worthy of Winning," on Friday, April 19, in the President's Hall of the Penn Stater. This Forum will be preceded by a screening of “Raising Renee,” the HBO documentary about Ms. McIver’s decision to adapt her career and life to assist with her mentally disabled sister. The screening will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, at the Palmer Lipcon Auditorium.
