Painting by Penn College faculty member published in online journal

An acrylic and ink painting by an associate professor at Pennsylvania College of Technology has been published in the first issue of an online journal showcasing the creative talents of Excelsior College’s students, alumni, staff and faculty.

Thomas E. Ask, a licensed professional engineer who earned a Master of Arts degree in liberal studies at Excelsior in 2002, teaches industrial and human factors design in Penn College’s School of Integrated Studies, and HVAC technology/mechanical refrigeration in the School of Construction and Design Technologies.

His painting, “Ask Mountain,” is included in the September edition of Excelsior ReView, which intends semi-annual publication of original works “that experiment with form, narrative and nonconventional subject matter, as well as traditional literary and art subjects.” The inaugural issue includes art, photography, poetry, fiction and essays.

Ask is a juried Pennsylvania Wilds Artisan who exhibits and sells his artwork throughout the Northern Tier.

In addition to his master’s degree, Ask holds a doctorate in industrial design from Middlesex University, a graduate management certificate from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois.
