Lashinsky, author of “Inside Apple: How America’s Most Admired -- and Secretive -- Company Really Works,” will appear in The Speaker Series at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, on Thursday, Oct. 18. His presentation, also titled “Inside Apple,” begins at 7:30 p.m. in 180 Jack Burke Research and Economic Development Center, 5101 Jordan Road. Admission is free and free parking will be available in the deck south of Burke, off Technology Drive.
“Inside Apple” reveals the secret systems, tactics, and leadership strategies that allow the company to churn out hit products, forge deep bonds with customers and apply maximum pressure on suppliers. Lashinsky also will discuss Apple’s transition to an era starved of the leadership of late CEO Steve Jobs.
Lashinsky, a senior editor at large for Fortune magazine, famously predicted in a 2008 cover story that current Apple CEO Tim Cook, then an unknown Apple operations executive, would someday succeed Jobs as CEO. Lashinsky also is a weekly panelist on FOX News and FOX Business Network. Prior to joining Fortune, he was the Silicon Valley columnist for TheStreet.com and the first high-tech stocks columnist for the San Jose Mercury News. Lashinsky also has been a reporter and assistant managing editor for Crain’s Chicago Business and was a Henry Luce Scholar in Tokyo, where he worked as a reporter for the Nikkei Weekly, the English-language version of Japan’s main economic daily paper. He creates the popular video series Connected with Adam Lashinsky for Fortune.com.
