Penn State Lehigh Valley Gallery exhibit: Theo Anderson - Snafu

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The Gallery at Penn State Lehigh Valley will present a new exhibit featuring the photographs of Theo Anderson. "Snafu" will run from Oct. 29 to Dec. 14, with an artist talk at 4 p.m. and a reception continuing until 7 p.m. on Nov. 8. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. This exhibition is organized in partnership with Lehigh Valley Photography Month, part of the InVision Photo Festival presented by ArtsQuest.

The exhibition includes photographs from Anderson's ongoing series, CADILLAC, which depict scenes from around the United States. A limited edition book will be created based on the photographs in this presentation.

"The photographs are not so much about place as they are about transformation. The context of everyday American life is used in my visual exploration. The photographs are democratic in the sense that no place or person is more or less important than another. Hopefully they will provide an entryway for the viewer," said Anderson in an artist statement on the exhibit.

In addition to his exhibition, Anderson will be meeting with a number of classes and hundreds of students this fall to talk about his work and his inspiration. This integration of the gallery exhibition into the classroom is not only through art classes, but also through classes in human development, family sciences, communication arts and sciences, information systems technology, psychology, and business, among others.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. The gallery is located on the third floor of the campus at 2809 Saucon Valley Road, Center Valley. For current gallery hours, visit www.lv.psu.edu/gallery online.
