Storm cuts short blood drive; donors urged to reschedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The first day of the 2012 Penn State-Michigan State Blood Donor Challenge was cut short Monday as the University canceled afternoon classes over storm concerns, and donors who were set to give are urged to reschedule this week. Penn State did manage to collect 47 units of blood. Michigan State collected 101 units.

Blood drives are schedule for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following locations:

-- today HUB-Robeson Center, Alumni Hall
-- Wednesday, Oct. 31, Hintz Family Alumni Center
-- Thursday, Nov. 1, Pasquerilla Spiritual Center
-- Friday, Nov. 2, Kunkle Lounge in Hammond Building

All donors should eat well and stay well hydrated before donating. A form of ID is also required. A PSU ID, driver’s license or Red Cross donor card are the preferred methods. There are still many open appointment slots. Appointments can be made by visiting and are strongly recommended.
