Lecture to focus on second language acquisition

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- John Schumann, professor of applied linguistics at University of California, Los Angeles will present an invited lecture titled "Evolution and Second Language Acquisition" at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in 358 Willard Building. The talk will explore various strategies used throughout evolutionary history that have allowed humans to cope with the difficulty presented by learning an additional language as an adult.
