Nov. 29: New date for postponed 'Focus on Fixed Income' event

“Focus on Fixed Income” will be the topic of a rescheduled Finance Speaker Series presentation at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.

Financial adviser and Penn State Behrend alumnus Adam Nelson will discuss the benefits of fixed-income securities at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29. The event was originally scheduled in October but postponed due to Hurricane Sandy.

Nelson’s nontechnical presentation in 180 Jack Burke Research and Economic Development Center, 5101 Jordan Road, is free and open to the public, and free parking will be available in the deck located behind Burke Center, off Technology Drive.

“My intention is to educate people on how fixed-income investments such as bonds can help them reach their financial goals,” said Nelson, who earned a bachelor of science in finance from the campus in 2008. “I will discuss bond characteristics and features, the relationship between interest rates and bond prices, the tax advantages of municipal bonds and how bonds can help investors weather fluctuating markets.”

Nelson heads the Buffalo Road office of Edward Jones. He is member of the boards of directors of the Erie Club and the Harborcreek Chamber of Commerce.

The Finance Speaker Series is an outreach program of the Sam and Irene Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend.
