Research Unplugged concludes this week with Essence of Joy

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Research Unplugged concludes its fall series of community conversations with Penn State faculty this week with a program on Thursday, Nov. 15, by Anthony Leach and members of the acclaimed Penn State School of Music choral group Essence of Joy.

Leach, associate professor of music and music education and longtime conductor of Essence of Joy and the University Chorus, will present "A Joyful Noise: Sacred and Secular Music from the African and African-American Tradition," with a special performance by Essence of Joy singers and instrumentalists.

Research Unplugged events are held each Thursday from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in the Downsbrough Community Room of Schlow Centre Region Library, on Allen Street in downtown State College. The programs are free and open to the public, with complimentary light refreshments available, and limited free parking at Schlow Library starting at 11:45 a.m.

Research Unplugged will return in mid-March with its spring series at the same location and times. More information about the spring events will be posted at http://www.rps.psu.edu/unplugged/ as soon as speakers and topics are confirmed.
