PennDOT secretary to give transportation conference keynote

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The 17th annual Transportation Engineering and Safety Conference will be held Wednesday to Friday (Dec. 5-7) at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.

The event, hosted by the Thomas D. Larson Pennsylvania Transportation Institute, is free for Penn State faculty, students and staff.

Pennsylvania Secretary of Transportation Barry Schoch, a 1982 civil engineering alumnus, will give the opening keynote address at noon Wednesday.

John Norquist, president and CEO of Congress for the New Urbanism, will present the keynote address for day two of the conference at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Topics for this year's conference include "Working with the Highway Safety Manual," "Attack of the Robot Car: A Panel Discussion on Autonomous Vehicles and Autonomous Vehicle Legislation," "P3 in Pennsylvania and Act 88's Impact" and "Performance Measures Using Probe Data."
