Former student George Adda to deliver commencement address

Former Penn State New Kensington student George Adda, retired director of worldwide sales and marketing for Lufkin Industries, will be the principal speaker at the campus' fall commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. Dec. 22, in the Forum Theatre. More than 40 graduates will receive baccalaureate and associate degrees.

Adda attended the campus for two years before completing his bachelor’s degree in psychology at University Park in 1974 and joining Lufkin. He was with the company for almost 40 years and his executive experience includes sales and marketing of new equipment, parts, repairs and aftermarket services. However, retirement didn’t last long as he is in the midst of second career as vice president for corporate marketing for the Elliott Group. The Jeanette, Pa., company designs, manufactures and services centrifugal compressor and steam turbines used in the oil and gas industry.

The Lower Burrell resident serves on the campus Advisory Board and is a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association. He is a frequent guest speaker in business classes at the campus. Two of his daughters are Penn State alumna.
