UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- In May, new students accepted at Penn State University Park will attend an expanded two-day orientation program to guide them through the academic and social transitions to college. The newly created Office for Student Orientation & Transition Programs, a collaborative effort between the Office of Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs, will provide central oversight for the new orientation program.
New Student Orientation is hiring approximately 32 undergraduate students to spend the summer working on the Orientation Team as orientation associates and orientation leaders. Orientation associates and orientation leaders will staff two-day, overnight orientation sessions from May through August. As representatives of Penn State University, the members of the orientation team will introduce new students and their families to the college environment. Qualified applicants will exemplify strong leadership skills, be active in academic and co-curricular activities, have the ability to work comfortably with diverse populations, exemplify strong communication and interpersonal skills, and represent Penn State with pride.
Information sessions for prospective orientation team members will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 15 in room 106 HUB-Robeson Center. Applications are available at the information session or online at studentaffairs.psu.edu/newstudents. Applications are due on Wednesday, Jan. 23. All applicants are required to attend the group interview at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26 in 129 A&B HUB-Robeson Center.
