University Faculty Senate sets agenda for Jan. 29 meeting

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The University Faculty Senate will meet at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 29, in 112 Kern Graduate Building. The items below will be considered at the meeting: 

-- A forensic session will be held to provide an update on the work of the Senate Self-Study Committee and for the committee to receive guidance and input from the Faculty Senate. Questions related to organization, communication, membership and engagement, among others, will be used to facilitate discussion.

-- Vice President for Outreach Craig Weidemann and Associate Vice President for Academic Outreach and Executive Director of the World Campus Wayne Smutz will present an overview of the World Campus, including its successes and future challenges.

-- A presentation on the Integrated Student Information System replacement project will provide background regarding the decision process, an overview of the project including current status and timeline and the role of the Faculty Senate.

-- Informational reports include ScholarSphere, a repository which will enable research sharing and discovery, and PIVOT, an online resource for researchers. Annual informational reports will be received on the reserved spaces program, faculty census and a summary of the Senate officers’ fall 2012 campus visits.

Members of the University community are invited to attend this meeting. Any member of the University community not a member of the Senate may request the privilege of the floor on any item of business already before the Senate. Such a request must be made to the chair, through the executive director, at least four calendar days before the meeting at which the individual wishes to speak.

The Senate Agenda will be posted on the Senate website one week prior to each meeting and the Senate Record (minutes) will be posted approximately three weeks following each meeting at http://www.senate.psu.edu/agendas-records.html.
