Lee Ann De Reus, associate professor of human development and family studies and women studies at Penn State Altoona and co-founder of Panzi Foundation USA, has been selected as a speaker for the March 17, TEDxPSU event in Schwab Auditorium on the University Park campus.
De Reus will present “Daring to Make a Difference in the Democratic Republic of Congo.” As a scholar activist, she travels regularly to Panzi Hospital in eastern DRC to conduct research, develop programs for rape survivors, and inform of her advocacy work in the U.S. In Rwanda she conducts a Penn State service project with vulnerable children and widows from the 1994 genocide.
TEDxPSU was brought to the Penn State community in 2010. The mission of the event is to bring together innovative and thought-provoking individuals from the Penn State community and the world to share ideas worth spreading. Find out more about TEDxPSU at www.tedxpsu.com online.
