Master’s student Brendan McNelly demonstrates a mock-up of a robot entering a nuclear storage cask to perform crack inspection. The robot must perform the inspection without wedging or jamming, despite very tight space restrictions between the canister and the concrete overpack. The mock-up allows simulation of various geometries, robot sizes, and wedging conditions.
